So what are dental implants? When you’re missing one or more teeth, you can restore your smile and your confidence with state-of-the-art dental implants from Ballantyne Center for Dentistry

Every week at The Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, we help patients who have lost one tooth or numerous teeth. Some patients are even facing a lifetime of having to wear uncomfortable and unsightly dentures. Some patients have failing crowns or bridges.

In most cases, dental implants, available to our patients in Charlotte and surrounding communities, provide an excellent solution for three reasons:

  1. Implants are durable and will often last decades, providing a strong foundation for a beautiful ‘you look great’ smile.
  2. Implants provide confidence…go ahead and eat the foods you enjoy!
  3. Today’s implant technology is so advanced it provides a solid alternative to dentures.

To find out if dental implants are the best option for your needs, call 704-274-2992 now or contact us.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Since dental implants permanently anchor artificial teeth directly to the jawbone, they can be life-changing for patients who feel burdened by dentures, bridges, or crowns that break or slip. Dental implants are used to:

  • Replace one tooth or multiple teeth
  • Permanently anchor custom-made crowns, bridges, and dentures
  •  Provide replacement teeth that look and feel completely natural
  •  Prevent slipping and shifting of tooth restorations for maximum comfort and utility
  • Prevent bone loss and shifting of natural teeth around the gap

Are you ready to smile, talk, and eat anything comfortably and confidently?

Implant dentistry provides confidence. Your teeth are anchored in your jaw and your teeth will feel like normal teeth.

The Most Frequently Asked Questions about Dental Implants

Dental Implants Charlotte, NCHow many teeth can dental implants replace?

Dental implants can replace all of the teeth in the mouth if needed. The implant posts can support single crowns, dental bridges or an entire set of dentures.

Are dental implants removable?

No, dental implants themselves are fixed in the mouth and not removable. However, they can be used in applications that allow for removable appliances to become more secure and stable. The Over denture, SpeedBridge, and Teeth in Place™ options at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry are great examples of this.

What is the process like to place a dental implant?

First, the implant post is surgically placed in the jawbone and left to heal for several weeks. During this time period, called osseointegration, the bone grows around the implant post to act as a strong foundation for the artificial tooth.

Once the post and jawbone have healed, a connector piece called an abutment is screwed to the top of the post. Then, the artificial tooth is mounted to the abutment. The tooth is customized to match the shape, size and color of the surrounding natural teeth or restorations.

How long does it take to place a dental implant?

The length of time it takes to complete treatment depends on your restorative needs as well as the condition of your jawbone, the materials used and your health status.

A conventional dental implant generally takes less than an hour to place surgically and usually takes several weeks to heal. Once integrated into your bone a digital scan can be made of the implant and a foundation and crown or cap is fabricated to replace the missing tooth or teeth.

Am I a good candidate for dental implants?

You might be a suitable candidate for dental implants if you are in reasonable health, smoke less than a pack of cigarettes a day, and have sufficient jawbone to hold the implant post(s).

Do dental implants hurt?

No, the placement of dental implants should never hurt. We can use sedation dentistry techniques and local anesthetics to make the placement process comfortable and free of stress or pain. Many patients have told us that they feel better than expected after the placement of their implant(s). And most are able to go about their normal daily activities immediately after placement.

Dental Implant Doctor Charlotte, NCWill dental implants affect my speech?

No, dental implants allow you to speak clearly and enunciate properly without the burden of gaps in between your teeth.

Can I eat my favorite foods with dental implants?

Dental implants allow you to enjoy nearly all of the foods you like to eat, including crunchy fruits and vegetables, steaks and popcorn. We do, however, recommend you avoid sticky or sugary foods that can cause cavities to your natural teeth.

How much do dental implants cost?

The cost of dental implants treatments depends on different factors, including the number and type of implants placed. Our dental implants team would be happy to share more pricing information with you. Call or contact us today to set up a no obligation, FREE Dental Implant Screening appointment.

Will insurance cover my dental implants?

Some insurance companies do cover dental implants, but it is imperative you check your plan details to confirm what is/isn’t covered.

How long do dental implants last?

With the proper care and attention, dental implants can last indefinitely!

How should I take care of my dental implant?

Your implant should be brushed and flossed daily and checked by our dentists regularly to ensure its long-term success.

Who should place my dental implants?

For great results, it’s important to work with an implant dentist that offers the right combination of education, training and experience. Ask to speak to other patients that have gone through the process of dental implants by that particular dentist. Do not be afraid to ask questions about the brand of dental implant being used and what kind of results you can expect. The best implant dentists consult with you closely to understand your needs and recommend the best solution.
