One of the Most Affordable Ways to Get a Beautiful New Smile

Porcelain Veneers in CharlottePorcelain veneers are perfect for patients who want a ‘new’ smile and do not have structural issues. When the structure of the teeth (roots, etc.) is solid, dental veneers can be placed over existing teeth. If structural issues or problems with the foundation of your teeth and gums are a problem you may still be a candidate, although we may have to address these issues first.

We encourage you to visit our smile gallery now to see before and after photos of Ballantyne Center for Dentistry patients who have affordably used dental veneers to restore their smile and confidence.

Porcelain veneers are teeth coverings made from a very thin, lifelike porcelain. We customize each veneer to match your smile. In many instances, a veneer is a perfect choice when you have chipped or cracked teeth or a relatively minor blemish.

A Simple Yet Incredibly Effective Procedure

How do we create a beautiful smile using porcelain veneers?

  • During the free initial cosmetic consultation, we evaluate your current smile then ask about your dream smile.
  • At your new patient exam, we evaluate the structural integrity of your teeth using the latest X-ray technology and get a thorough baseline.
  • Using video and photography, we show you the type of result we can achieve using porcelain veneers…before we move forward with any procedure, you receive an accurate picture of the final result.
  • When you decide you want a brighter and more vibrant smile, we get models and more photographs of your teeth, face, and smile, schedule your appointment and order the customized veneer template.
  • During the appointment, we prepare your teeth for the veneers. You can elect to have ‘sedation dentistry,’ which means you can arrive at the Ballantyne Center for Dentistry completely relaxed, then in complete comfort get a beautiful new smile. You will leave with bonded resin composite veneers to “test drive” the new result.
  • Then we order the porcelain dental veneers and in a few short weeks have you back in the office to replace the temporary bonded ones with the final result.
  • In most instances, you will quickly be able to enjoy all the foods you normally enjoy and you’ll hear plenty of comments like, “You look great!” “Your smile! It’s beautiful!”
  • Teeth that were previously cracked, chipped or disfigured in some way are now totally improved.
  • Most patients only have to visit the practice a few times for veneers…once for the procedure and then again for a checkup and finally to deliver the porcelain veneers.

Dental Veneers in CharlotteTotal Control of the Design Means a More Beautiful Smile

  • Porcelain veneers provide numerous benefits and help many patients achieve a dream smile quickly and affordably…there are many reasons patients choose porcelain veneers...
  • Dental veneers can solve problems associated with chips, gaps, misalignments, and discolorations.
  • In many cases, veneers are a better, less expensive, and less invasive way of dealing with orthodontic issues…yes…that means you can avoid unsightly braces.
  • Veneers often provide a way to reshape teeth, restore worn-down teeth, or subtly close or widen gaps.
  • Veneers provide the most minimally invasive way to achieve a total and complete smile makeover.

For the Most Beautiful and Longest-Lasting Results, We Use Only the Strongest Materials

In order to offer a lower cost, some laboratories use inferior materials for their porcelain veneers; we routinely fix veneers made from ‘cheaper’ materials. At the Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, we use only the strongest and most proven materials including:

  • Radiant™ brand premium veneers by Arrowhead Dental Laboratory (popular with Hollywood stars and featured in many Extreme Makeovers; these are prized for their luminescence, stain-resistance, and natural appearance.)
  • ivoclar EPS e-max® veneers, which have been successfully used for years.
  • Razor veneers, which require minimal tooth preparation.
  • Zirmax reinforced glass-ceramic veneers specially designed to block out dark stains in the teeth.

We match the type and brand of veneer to your precise needs. These materials will last longer, look better, and keep you from having to return to the dentist to get these fixed.

Should My General Dentist Take Care of My New Porcelain Veneers?

Some general dentists provide veneers and related cosmetic services, and some of these dentists are excellent at this type of work. However, at the Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, we fix a lot of poor and failing work that general dentists without the appropriate training and background in cosmetic dentistry have performed. Sometimes, dentists may offer what can seem like a ‘low’ price for this type of work. There is usually only one way to offer a low price like this: by using inferior materials.

It is important to know exactly what the training and background of your dentist is in the area of bonded porcelain or composite veneers before having any work done. It is CRITICAL that you know what to ask and what to know before moving forward with cosmetic dental work. Not all dentists are "cosmetic" dentists. Make sure your dentist proves to you that they can produce the results you are looking for. You may want to download a FREE copy of our book, "Open Your Mouth!" How the Right Conversations with Your Dentist Can Change Your Life. In this comprehensive book about adult care dentistry, you will learn how to find the right dentists to give you spectacular results with your porcelain dental veneers.

BEFORE you say ‘yes’ to your general dentist, schedule a free cosmetic consultation here at the Ballantyne Center for Dentistry for a second opinion. Call 704-274-2992 right now or use our contact form or chat service.   At the very least, you will have all the information you need to make a fully educated decision.

Frequently Asked Questions about Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers versus Dental Crowns CharlotteVeneers vs. crowns: what is the difference?

Crowns are a restoration to protect and strengthen damaged or decayed teeth, and veneers cover up superficial flaws. A crown resembles the exterior of a natural tooth and is fitted over the entire tooth. A veneer resembles a small shell or piece of porcelain and is bonded to the front of the teeth.

What does the veneers placement process entail?

The process to design and place porcelain veneers usually takes two appointments to complete. During the first appointment, one of our dentists prepares the teeth for the veneers by removing a small amount of tooth enamel. Photographs are taken of your teeth, face and smile and sent to the dental laboratory that creates the veneers. Bonded resin composite veneers are placed so you can “test drive” your results; feedback is encouraged and can help fine-tune your permanent veneers.

Once your customized veneers are ready, you return for your second appointment. The temporary bonded veneers are removed and the final veneers are placed. Any last-minute adjustments can be made as needed.

How long do veneers last?

Properly placed and cared-for veneers can last a long time (over 10 years in many cases). Dr. Yaste has veneers that were done by Dr. Joe over 17 years ago and they are still in service and look great! Many other team members at the Ballantyne Center for Dentistry have dental veneers, too, with long term success. The materials dental veneers are made out of are very durable and can withstand the forces of chewing.

Do porcelain veneers stain?

Porcelain veneers are resilient and do not easily absorb surface stains from food and beverages. However, they should be professionally cleaned and polished by a dentist periodically to help maintain their radiance.

Can porcelain veneers be whitened?

Like other dental restorations, porcelain veneers do not respond to teeth whitening treatment. Whitening toothpastes may dull the luster of a veneer. If you want an overall whiter, brighter smile, discuss how best to achieve this with your dentist.

Veneer Teeth and Cavities Charlotte, NCCan veneered teeth develop cavities?

The veneer itself cannot develop cavities or decay, but the veneered tooth can, especially if the veneer is poorly installed or a bad fit for the tooth. The teeth should be kept clean by maintaining proper oral hygiene (i.e., daily brushing and flossing) and regular dental checkups and exams. Limiting sugar consumption is also highly recommended for oral health reasons.

How much do porcelain veneers cost?

The cost of porcelain veneers depends on the material and number of veneers you need. There may also be added costs for dental sedation and any additional treatments (e.g., gum contouring).

Does dental insurance cover porcelain veneers?

Not generally speaking. Veneers are considered an elective treatment for cosmetic purposes, and most insurance plans do not cover the cost. However, if your tooth has been damaged in some way or you are replacing older veneers, dental insurance can often be maximized to obtain benefits.

What are the benefits to porcelain veneers?

These beautiful restorations are a great way to achieve a number of cosmetic objectives, including to improve the shape, size and color of the teeth. They can also hide small spaces between the teeth or cover up rotated teeth. The porcelain material closely mimics the translucent quality of natural tooth enamel, and it is extremely strong. Veneers can accomplish all of this without removing or altering the underlying tooth structure significantly. And, they can last for many years!
