We, along with our staff, are volunteering for the North Carolina Missions of Mercy (NCMOM) on August 18 -20, 2011 at the Charlotte Convention Center! We are so excited about this portable free dental program which is a grassroots effort carried out by volunteers from the dental health field and from the community and powered by donations and grants from various organizations and individuals to the North Carolina Dental Health Fund.
NCCMOM, an outreach program of the North Carolina Dental Society, will provide free dental services to over 2000 people who cannot afford or have very few options for dental care. The dentistry will be provided in 30 operational hours at eighty (80) mobile station dental treatment facilities at the Charlotte Convention Center. Ballantyne Center for Dentistry wants to be part of the solution to a growing public health problem in North Carolina where there are over a million adults who do not have access to regular dental care.
Working with other dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and general volunteers, Dr. Yaste and Dr. Joe are will bring their expertise and experience in cosmetic and restorative dentistry to the community’s underserved.
We are looking for additional volunteers, no dental experience necessary, and especially volunteer interpreters to work with them, hoping to serve as many patients as possible including North Carolina’s non-English speaking community members.
By volunteering for NCMOM, we are reaching out and serving those who do not have dental insurance or financing to avail of and would need free dental care services.
