Sedation dentistry for those afraid of the dentist in Charlotte

Would you like to feel and look this relaxed when going to the dentist?  Sedation dentistry will help you feel comfortable, and ease your fears of the dentist. It is just the nature of a human being to fear something.  Fear is said to be an internal and subconscious response when faced with an unwanted situation.  In a dental office, patients often manifest fear to dentists, or even the dental office itself.  Dentists are often faced with such a problem, and thus, have developed new means to cope with such situations.  And this is through sedation dentistry, the dental science of placing a patient under safe sedation.  Some people even refer to it as going to see a sleep dentist.

What is a sleep dentist?   The term “sleep dentist” came from people who come to see a sedation dentist, and feel so relaxed that they fall asleep during a procedure. But sedation dentistry doesn’t make you fall asleep- you are conscious and aware during the entire process, just so relaxed that it’s easy to fall asleep.

Fearing a dentist is not only common to children but to many adults as well.  Some people just do not feel right whenever they are inside a dental office and that is ok.  In order to reduce occurrences of panicking during procedures, Sedation dentists have elicited the use of sedative prescriptions to make patients relax and feel comfortable.  Thus, they are sometimes called as sleep dentists.  This prevents you from feeling attacks of “dental phobia.”  They employ new methods in sedation dentistry for individuals who are afraid.  And thus, procedures are better carried out and patients are given utmost care.

Importance of sedation dentistry: According to the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, in sedation dentistry, you are taken care of and your anxiety would be reduced. This is done through the administration of a sedative agent, given by trained cosmetic or sedation dentists. This helps you relax and make you comfortable during the procedure.  You may be so relaxed that you fall asleep during the dental procedures and not even remember being in the cosmetic dental office.

Oral sedation is often the form of administration in sedation dentistry.  This is the safest and most effective form of achieving sedation while maintaining safety and comfort. But what you have to know though is that a topical anesthesia as well as local anesthesia is still administered because some people, even though under sedation, may still feel pain.

What are the benefits of sedation dentistry?  Many people appreciate the benefits of sedation dentistry, which includes sitting through a long dental procedure and only feeling as if it took minutes, while in reality it took hours to accomplish.  Furthermore, your cosmetic or sedation dentist would ensure that your comfort is maximized.

Next time you need a dental procedure, visit your local Charlotte cosmetic or sedation dentist and ask about sedation dentistry.

Dentures versus dental implants: which is better?

It is an inevitable part of aging to lose one’s teeth – aging27 may not be the main reason though, as often times, people lose their teeth because of pure neglect. Either way, having a missing tooth or missing teeth is not that presentable. In fact, it is quite embarrassing. It is a good thing that the technology of today has provided us means to correct this awful picture. The birth of dentures and dental implants or teeth implants has made a big difference in the dental health division. Knowing that you do not have to dwell and be stuck with the physical humiliation of missing teeth or the difficulty in terms of eating is a great relief.

Today, people have been wondering and debating as to which prosthetic intervention is best: dentures or dental implants. Since both require money and both affect a person’s physical and psychological health, it is only appropriate to examine and analyze which is better by looking into their advantages and disadvantages.

Dentures. Let us start with the dentures. Dentures were developed first and society is accustomed to this type of intervention. Dentures are a lot cheaper than dental implants and the process of creating the prosthetic is also faster. After a couple of visits, you will have the molded prosthetic. Another good thing about dentures is it is not demanding in terms of the person’s physical health or structure – jaw structure to be exact. The downfall of dental dentures is blamed at the comfort it provides to the one using them. Since dentures are removable, people may suffer from difficulties in chewing their food. Also, because dentures are removable, some people often suffer from the humiliation of having their dentures detached and fall out of their mouth unpredictably.

Dental Implants. Contrary to dentures, dental implants are secure because they are embedded into the bone socket. The jawbone anchors the prosthetic tooth, which allows the dental implant to appear and feel like the original.  Because dental implants are securely rooted, eating is far more comfortable and the chances of having the implant detached accidentally are eliminated. The risk with teeth implants is the fact that it requires dental surgery, and is also much more expensive.  Sedation dentistry is available now, where patients can relax in comfort during the dental procedure, usually without any memory of laying in the dental chair. We here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry offer an array of financing plans to help you afford the dental implants for your teeth.  Contact your local Charlotte cosmetic dentist, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, to learn more about dental implants as see if dental implants are appropriate for you.  Most cosmetic dentists will provide a free consultation and answer any of your dental implant questions.

The IDEAL Solution for Current Denture Sufferers. All hope is not lost if you already have dentures, or if you are destined to wear them.  In fact, the technology today helps us implement dentures and dental implants together.  By using just a few dental implants we can create a stable base for your dentures.  No longer will you need to worry about dentures popping out at family gatherings and other embarrassing situations.  Also, you will not need to spend enormous amount of time “gluing” in your dentures everyday.  These type of implants can be used for current denture wearers or for new dentures.  The cost is significantly less than it would be for a full mouth of implants as well.  It is the perfect starting point.

If you or someone you knows suffers with dentures that are uncomfortable, loose, or look bad, come into our dental office, here in Ballantyne for a complimentary consultation and find out how we can help you rid yourself of denture problems!  We look forward to seeing you.

Blood  Clots/Stroke – They Now Have a Fourth Indicator,  the Tongue

STROKE: Remember  the 1st Three Letters…. S.. T. R.

During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall – she assured  everyone that she was fine (they offered to call  paramedics) ..she said she had just tripped over  a brick because of her new shoes.

They  got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of  food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the  evening

Jane’s husband called later  telling everyone that his wife had been taken to  the hospital –
(at 6:00  pm  Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the  signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with  us today. Some don’t die. They end up in a  helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It  only takes a minute to read this…

A  neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke  victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the  effects of a stroke…totally. He said  the trick was getting a stroke recognized,  diagnosed, and then getting the patient  medically cared for within 3 hours, which is  tough…

Thank  God for the sense to remember the ‘3’ steps, STR  . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a  stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately,  the lack of awareness spells disaster. The  stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage  when people nearby fail to recognize the  symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a  bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three  simple questions:

S  *Ask  the individual to SMILE.

T  *Ask  the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE  (Coherently)

(i.e. It is sunny out  today.)

R  *Ask  him or her to RAISE BOTH  ARMS.

If  he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these  tasks, call emergency number immediately  and describe the symptoms to the  dispatcher.

New  Sign of a Stroke ——– Stick out Your  Tongue

NOTE:  Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is this: Ask the  person to ‘stick’ out his tongue.. If the tongue  is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the  other,   that is  also an indication of a  stroke.

Am I too old for dental implants?

We recently received a call at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry with this question, “My 89BCD - N49 year old father has been reading about dental implants and is interested in getting them. Is he too old for dental implants?”

That’s a great question!  First- I’m sorry to hear her 89 year old father has waited this long to consider implants, but, no… he’s not too old to get dental implants, and I’m sure, if he interested in getting the implants, he will really enjoy the results.

There are some requirements for getting dental implants.  Visit your implant professionals, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, and we’ll evaluate you to see if you are a candidate for dental implants. We will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums, along with evaluating your bone density, to ensure there is sufficient bone structure for placing the implants.  Some patients may require bone or soft tissue grafts if they have insufficient bone or gum tissue.  Don’t let any of these possible procedures scare you- we also provide sedation dentistry- so you will be relaxed and comfortable during the entire process.

Don’t wait until you’re 89 years old and then get your teeth fixed.  You should enjoy your smile now.  Dental implants are a great alternative to dentures, bridges and partial bridges,  and can replace one or more missing teeth.  These teeth implants are the most advanced technology available and produce great results. You won’t be able to tell the difference between a teeth implant and a regular implant as you bite into a juicy steak or a crisp, red apple, or laugh at your grandchild’s newest joke.Visit your dental implant specialists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, and talk to us about getting dental implants. We look forward to talking with you.

Charlotte Dentist Reviews

Recently a good friend of the doctors told them how important it was that people could see just how happy their patients and clients really were by reading reviews. Dentist’s have a long history of causing pain and having less than comfortable offices with uncaring staff members.  We are proud to display some of the latest dental reviews by patients in our Charlotte dental practice, Ballantyne Center For Dentistry.

Dr. Yaste and Dr. Hufanda have made it their mission to help people overcome dental phobias and dental fear.  And, we have the BEST Staff and Team members of any dental office in Charlotte.  The wonderful staff at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry make it easy to look forward to dental visits.  These dentist reviews were copied from the review section of our Facebook site.

i absolutely love this dentistry!! ♥ the staff makes you feel right at home!! they are absolutely wonderful & amazing & i wouldn’t go anywheres else!!”  – Tracey C

“Great staff; great dental care!” – Jan R

“I had seen another dentist and they recommended several crowns and some other work. Wow, was I shocked at the price. I went to Ballantyne Center for Dentistry for another opinion and Dr. Yaste had a better solution. Since they make their own crowns on the premises  WHILE YOU WAIT he suggested inserts instead and thereby reduced the cost by almost half. The staff there is really great and they make your visit just that – it’s more a visit than a dental appointment. Bet y’all didn’t know Dr. Yaste plays guitar. But don’t ask him to sing!”  – Dennis H

Here is a testimonial by one of our patients, Colin….

“I happened into Dr. Yaste when he was still on Park Rd. Where he told me my crowns were the reason for my gums irratation and bleeding. I actually was having an allergic reaction to the metals in the crowns. He not only made my new front crowns but improved the placement so much it changed my smile forever. Even though my insurance is out of network for Dr. Yaste I couldn’t think of going anyplace else. I just had a crown prepped this week and other than the sound of the old one coming off felt nary a thing! Thanks, Dr. Yaste!” -Jan K

“I have always hated going to the dentist. When I found Dr.Yaste online and had my first appointment with him, I wasnt as scared anymore. The office is very calming and very relaxing and not like any dentist office Ive ever been too. The people there are very warm and welcoming. Most dentist I had been to in the past were snobby and acted like they were above you…but not Dr.Yaste. All the staff are very down to earth caring people. I would recommend Ballantyne Center for Dentistry to anyone thats hesitant about going to the dentist. You wont be dissappointed.”  – Amanda B

“Dr. Yaste and his staff are wonderful. The office space at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry is so calming and peaceful that stress melts away when you walk through the door, like you’ve entered a spa. Every member of the staff is warm, welcoming, and seems to genuinely care about patients as people. But most importantly, Dr. Yaste is very thorough, meticulous and highly skilled. Even my husband trusts this dentist — and that’s HUGE for him! I can’t say enough good things about this dentist and this practice. The only way to improve it would be to offer pedicures while they’re cleaning your teeth (just kidding!). :-)”  -Rebecca R

“Thank you for being so patient and kind to me
The biggest BABY of them all. NO PAIN!!! That is what I like.
Hello to Dr Yaste, Linda, Diane, Dr Joe, all of you. Thank you again.”  -Lila T

“Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, you really are the best dentist office in town. Even when you are totally swamped you treat every patient like they are they are your only patient! Thanks again” – Tina L

If you have had a great experience at our office and want to share it.  We would love to hear from you or you can post them on our Google reviews page.
