Cosmetic Dentists

BCD - N50

You probably wonder how celebrities get their mega-watt smile. Is it real, porcelain veneers or something else? Or could it be just photo shopped?! Gasp! It is so hard to tell these days which pictures tell the truth and which are just plain digitally enhanced.

Fortunately, not all of these celebrity smiles are photo-shopped. Their megawatt smiles are accessible and realistic! Yes, they are made possible by a special breed of dentists. And you can also have the perfect set of teeth to flash that blinding perfect smile.

Before you go search-engine crazy about these super smile makers you better know what you’re looking for. And what you are looking for are cosmetic dentists!

Compared to general dentists who focus their practice on the general health of the oral cavity as well as diagnosing oral cavity diseases, cosmetic dentists are keener on aesthetic appearance of the mouth, the teeth, and the smile of the patient.

They have an approach to cosmetic dentistry with a mixture of engineering, realism, and the art of perfection. And they will not stop until they have reached the perfect smile on your face. Perfect but not too perfect it would look fake. Now that’s a good mixture of dental science and dental art.  Cosmetic dentistry, as the practice is called, utilizes advanced dental equipment such as lasers, oral imaging equipment, caries detection equipment, CAD/CAM restoration etc.

All these for making that smile better than before and satisfy the patient with great results.

A little tour around the clinic to check out their dental equipment won’t hurt your decision to choose the best cosmetic dentist for you either. And while you’re at it, checking out past patients’ before and after photos is also a good idea to check out the style of work the cosmetic dentist has.

Moreover, it is also important to inquire about their credentials. A reliable cosmetic dentist is usually a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry or some other Esthetic or Cosmetic Academy. A cosmetic dentist has studied and trained in this area by doing extensive continuing education.

Dental procedures that are done by cosmetic dentists are teeth whitening, inlays/onlays or a.k.a. dental fillings; dental veneers, composite bonding, mouth reconstruction, dental implants, and smile makeovers.

For more information about the procedures that they can offer, contact the best cosmetic dentist in your area- Dr. Christian Yaste and Dr. Joe Hufanda, of Ballantyne Center for Dentistry.

Go ahead; do not hesitate to ask questions to your cosmetic dentist. After all, this is your smile at stake here and you deserve the best! Your dream of a lovely smile is soon to be realized.  Check out this video where Dave gets the smile of his dreams with dental veneers.

Dental implants: the solution denture sufferers need to understand

Can you recall the first time you went to a dentist for a tooth extraction? More importantly, what solution was presented to you for tooth loss or tooth gaps? If you are answering this question with a quizzical look on your face (plus some amount of annoyance), chances are, you have been advised to have partial or28

complete dentures. Otherwise, you would be smiling and reading a different article.  A dental implant is great option you need to know more about.

Dentures and partial dentures are only one of the solutions for replacing missing tooth or teeth. Dentures work fine at first, and to a certain extent, but have some negative results and can create problems for you.  That’s why it’s important to learn more about other options, such as bridges and or dental implants.  Here are some of the reported issues with dentures and how they differ from dental implants.

How dentures and partial dentures differ from dental implants

Of course, you already know about some of the drawbacks of removable teeth replacement. You might have complained about these so many times and heard about them from other people, too. Dentures are not only irritating to use, because they are not your natural teeth, they can also cause anxiety attacks because you’ll never know when they will pop out, move around, fly out or get stuck in food. There are also other concerns like sore spots in your mouth and handling gobs of denture adhesive, to name a few.

You may have all or some of these problems but you must also know about the serious risks you face because of dentures. These are actually potential problems you can avoid by choosing to have dental implants instead of dentures:

  1. Ill-fitting dentures and tooth loss may increase your risk for bone loss. Dentures may exacerbate your problem with tooth loss instead of solving it. A gap in your mouth caused by a missing tooth can cause bone loss, which can cause further damage by making you look older than your age.
  2. Dentures and tooth loss may increase the risk of oral and other diseases. Bacteria can lie behind dentures that don’t fit properly and this can have serious health consequences.
  3. Studies have shown that people who have poorly fitting dentures or suffer from tooth loss actually die sooner.
  4. Partial Dentures actually end up loosening your natural teeth in the areas next to the missing teeth.  This creates even more tooth and bone loss.

Now, here’s the good news…. teeth implants are a predictable and excellent way to replace teeth and “Lock Down” an ill fitting denture.   With dental implants, you can still turn these bad effects around. Instead of having a removable tooth replacement, your dentist can implant a tooth root replacement. Just think of all the difficulties you have encountered while using dentures that eventually became loose or did not fit well. Dental implants will eliminate these minor and major problems.

Yes, you should now be asking if a dental implant is right for you. Generally, healthy persons with missing teeth are good candidates for dental implants. Consult a qualified implant dentist today for a more detailed discussion of dental implants.  Dr. Christian Yaste and Dr. Joe Hufanda, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, are qualified implant dentists and will be happy to discuss if dental implants are right for you.

Getting your teeth whitened by a Charlotte dentist is the most effective way to get whiter teeth, but…..

There are a couple of common misperceptions about teeth whitening at the dentist’s office.  One of these common misperceptions is to call teeth whitening “Laser teeth whitening.”  Laser dentistry is a hot word, it’s become a popular term and many people have heard about it and want their teeth whitened with “Laser Dentistry.”  But- technology has changed and improved over the last couple of years. There are many new and different spectrums of light used for teeth whitening, including halogen and LED. You may have seen advertisements about flashlights that are LED and how bright and effective they are.

The old lasers caused some sensitivity – these newer lights are cooler, and friendlier to teeth and gums.  They work, gently, to activate the whitening agents for tooth whitening.

The most common type of teeth whitening now is LED teeth whitening.  Some people still call it Laser teeth whitening, but really the correct term would be LED teeth whitening.  LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. It’s a digital light, and faster and easier than the “laser” used in years past.  LED lighting is very comfortable against the skin, and does not cause any damage to the gums or teeth.

A second misperception is that it only takes one time to get your teeth to stay white.  Teeth whitening is a continual process- just like:

  • Cleaning your teeth everyday: If you only brushed your teeth once, and then threw away your tooth brush- your teeth and mouth would become very unpleasant soon!
  • Exercising:  If you only exercised once, and then didn’t keep exercising on a regular basis, you would not be healthy.
  • Suntan:  If you are one of those who try to get a suntan, you know that you can’t lie out in the sun once, and expect to keep tanned skin for a lifetime!
  • Hair Coloring:  Those who color their hair know that it’s time for some maintenance when the roots start showing up a different color
  • Retainer after braces:  If you don’t wear a retainer regularly, after your braces are off, your teeth will return to its natural position.

All of these examples are just like teeth whitening- you need a maintenance plan to keep your teeth white.  Teeth whitening is not a one-time event, but needs a plan of action to keep your teeth bright and white.  It may only take one visit to get your teeth to that new sparkling white, but the maintenance plan is necessary to keep them that way.  It’s helpful to talk to your local cosmetic dentist about a maintenance plan. He will also discuss your use of tobacco products, red wine, tea, coffee or other teeth staining products, to help you create the best plan of action for you.  And don’t worry.  Keeping your teeth white isn’t hard.  There are many different products from the dentist and over the counter that do a wonderful job of maintaining the initial investment of Professional Teeth Whitening.

Come visit us at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry and we can discuss with you the options for whitening your teeth. We look forward to seeing you.

Adult braces that are fast and easy

Has Madonna’s gap tooth lost its appeal to you? Or maybe you have just watched too many Julia Roberts’ romantic-comedy movies that you suddenly yearn to have her charming and inviting smile.

When you meet someone for the first time, they notice your smile before anything else.  You may be nervous to smile when you picture is taken, because your teeth are not perfect.

And the only answer to getting a beautiful smile and gorgeous teeth is to either get teeth veneers or braces to fix your smile. Dental veneers may be too expensive. And adult braces? These might be the best investment you might make in a long time- to better your career and your self-confidence.

But then again, who wants those metal wires in their mouths? It’s so embarrassing to wear them, especially when you’ve reached a certain age when tiny bright colored wires that line your teeth are not cute anymore. Not everybody looks good with them like any Disney channel kid. And not everybody who needs straight teeth are kids either.

So how do we get that perfect smile without looking like our kids?  Is there a way to get fast, easy braces?

Have no fear! Anybody can now finally have straight teeth without looking wiry in just a few months. They’re practically dubbed as fast easy braces and they can only be worn in approximately six months!

The Six Month Smiles teeth straightening procedure utilizes brackets that are translucent and wires that are tooth colored. These innovations have made it easier for the braces to be less noticeable.

Now with these fast easy braces, you won’t have to worry about metal wires and brackets in your mouth every time a picture of you is taken. The average treatment plan is only about six months. Six Month Smiles, indeed!

Six Month Smiles procedure basically works by modifying the set of teeth you expose every time you smile. The materials used for the wires of Six Month Smiles procedure is of nickel-titanium which provides just the right amount of force to alter the alignment of your teeth but without pain. Who would have thought that force and gentleness can be both present in a procedure that used to be associated with bad-looking teeth wires and pain? Ah, that’s the luxury of having fast, easy braces brought by the Six Month Smiles.

Another advantage, which is very delightful in these times, is that it’s actually cheaper than dental veneers and the traditional braces! Contact your favorite cosmetic dentist and inquire about the Six Month Smile if you want fast easy braces.

You know you deserve that perfect smile without the pain and the hassle. Go and invest in your smile.  We’re here for you at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry.

Is there such a thing as Fast, Easy Braces?

You’ve heard of people who get adult braces, and you wonder how they can go to work, sit in meetings and stand up and talk to their peers with those metal wires and bands in their mouth. You think they look silly wearing braces at their age.

But, what if there was a way to wear braces that people couldn’t easily see?  What if there was a way to get your teeth straightened in six months or less?

There is a way to get fast, easy braces!

Six Month smiles has developed technology that is hardly noticeable.  They use tooth colored wires and clear brackets, and shift the teeth that show when you smile. Because they don’t overhaul your bite alignment, the process usually only takes six months or less.

If you are interested in a way to get fast, easy braces- we have some great specials for you available here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry.  Register for an appointment to see if you are appropriate for Six Month Smiles- the fast, easy braces!
